Sleeping in unfamiliar territory, as one does when camping, can be difficult for the fussier sleeper. I've found it helpful to listen to the sounds of the outdoors, to wade through the curtains of noise, to try to find the furthest sound - the crickets, the birds, the coyotes, the interstate over yonder, the planes overhead - then there's The Beep. Have you heard it? It's out there, man. Just "Beep-beep...beep-beep...beep-beep"! What is that? A radio tower? A car alarm? ALIENS? Let's not lose our heads, here. Anyway, next time you're out there in the wilderness, take a listen. Listen for it. It's out there, but what is it?
