about

A story about Scissor Now!
Once upon a time, Jess and Kevin worked at a bike shop. They loved working with bikes and couldn’t imagine not working at the bike shop. Jef secretly hated that they worked at the bike shop because it always seemed to be the reason that Scissor Now! couldn’t play shows, especially far away shows. Then one day the bike shop went out of business. Jess and Kevin were initially unhappy, but both found that each of them could continue working with bikes, independently, being their own bosses and controlling their own schedules. Jef saw this as an opportunity to bring the music of Scissor Now! to far off lands and their wonderful inhabitants.
This recording is a sliver of a session that was recorded for our second vinyl release. “Jackals” is the sum of four years of being a band, starting back when Laura Leonard was playing bass and coming to fruition with Jef. The name is an amalgamation of the first line-up’s initials. Both “Pee On My Butt” and “Corporate Deodorant” were first recorded with Laura, but Jess, Kevin and Jef took a few extra minutes to knock out some oldies for just such an occasion as this. “Camelbak” is an original work by the current band. It’s about the allure of moving to Portland, OR despite the fact that everyone who does just moves back anyway.
